About the Project

Our project asks what facilitates teachers in applying an assets-based application of language brokering competencies to a variety of school practices in diverse cultural and linguistic contexts. What do teachers know, and need to know, about language brokering experiences, to build on them in school? We are meeting with ten teachers who work in bi- or multilingual public school settings to design curriculum and other school activities that build on language brokering. We will try them out, evaluate the results, and then re-design the activities. We will also reflect on our own learning processes. How do our understandings grow through our participation in collaborative work circles?

On this web site we bring together more than two decades of research on language brokering to support us in learning more about language brokering and applying it to curriculum design.
